Season 1, Episode 9 - Special Guest Bettye Kearse

Join me as I talk with Bettye Kearse, author, oral historian and former pediatrician, to discuss the importance of oral history today. Bettye now serves as her family's 8th generation Griotte, or oral historian, following her family's West African oral history tradition. In her book, "The Other Madisons: The Lost History of A President's Black Family", she tells the incredible story of her family's journey through the decades, while confronting colonialism, slavery, abuse and the silencing of slaves.
